Gratitude Diary 2022

I went to an event organized by an adoption agency in January Where I met Joy and Angel; my two pet parrots. I am happy that I was the lucky one that adopted them. I can’t even imagine living without them though just 4 months later Angel passed away due to age. Joy is still there and we together get through the tough days!  HAMZA HAIDERY 9P

Carbon and Zebra, the duo cat pair.Having an ardent fondness for cats. I am grateful for the two felines that I have met in 2022. They were born in our compound and have grown here with love and care. Ever since they grew up, we have developed an unbreakable bond with each other. Sometimes, there was a feeling of connection from the past. Till this day, I always make sure to give them chicken and buy treats for them. They make me purrfect and complete.

This year, I’ve learnt to be more grateful for my environment, and the peace that nature gives me. Whether it be a quick walk outside before the start of a school day, or a drive out into the mountains, being in nature gives me a sense of peace, and helps reset my thought processes. The sounds of silence along with a cup of coffee on an early morning inspire me, and add calm to a crowded calendar.

I’m grateful for my elder brother, ever since I can remember he has been my biggest inspiration and my mentor. With our significant age gap not a lot of people would expect us to have such a close relationship but we defy the odds in that aspect. He makes even the tough times bearable and has never been shy to point out my mistakes for me to learn from them and not a day goes by where I don’t learn something new from him.

I’m extremely grateful for my family and friends who stuck by me this entire year. They’ve truly filled my life with so much joy and excitement, turning every regular day into an amazing one. My pets Luna (dog) and Brownie (cat) have always been a great source of happiness for me as well. I am thankful for everyone who has been a significant part of my year and for giving me a chance to have a 2022 to call my own.

Having hot chocolate at school

Studying and sleeping in the library with my friend

Working on songwriting and guitar playing

Feeding a stray cat and naming it ‘wood’

Cooking ramen in tuition

This year in 2022, one of the things that I am grateful for is my wrist watch– an accessory which may seem insignificant to many given the availability of electronic gadgets, yet is one things without which I never go out anywhere. Other than being of great use to me during our exams my wrist watch’s elegant style and quintessential charm is something I really appreciate. It also holds high sentimental value for me because it was gifted to me by a dear friend of mine at it reminds me of all the wonderful memories we have had.

This year I learnt to be grateful for my own body, when I went through a challenging time this year, I realized that my body is what keeps me alive, and learnt to be grateful for the vital things it does. This year I learnt to truly love and appreciate myself.

Most people I know warned me of the fleeting nature of high school friendships.

“It won’t last, you will all go your separate ways.”, they would say. Hearing this over and over, I suppose I internalized it, and it wasn’t until this year when we all took different streams and one of us literally moved to a different country, that the thought of losing them truly began haunting me.

However, I am somehow simultaneously both surprised and not at all to say that while things changed, as they were bound to, what remained the same through everything was our bond. They are the most important people in my life, I am infinitely grateful for their existence and I hope that even several years down the road, whether that be 10 years or 50, we can still be this close.

AAFRIN AJMAL 11D

I’m grateful for all the new beginnings, opportunities and challenges that have molded my perspective towards life and made me look forward to every new day! Having great health, resources and support to accomplish my goals is something I owe immense gratitude to.

ANJASI GOSALIA 12C

Obviously, I’m grateful to my friends and family, they all mean the world to me, and I love them all. But I’m grateful for so many more things, like the beach, books, and most of all music. I’m so grateful to all the people with enough ideas and imagination to write books and make music. I’m grateful for most of the people around me, they have been wonderful and bearable (for the most part). I’m grateful to this club and its members and lastly, I’m grateful to myself.

DIVYA GUPTA 10D

It’s been a breakthrough year, everything is back to normal and we’re able to go out with family and friends again! I always used to go to the supermarket with my dad to pick up groceries before COVID, but since then, we haven’t been able to do our “mini weekend outing” together, and now that we can, I look forward to going out every week with my dad and taking a break from the hustle! I am grateful for my parents and the fact that we are once again able to find joy by going out!
