Health and Mind Club organized a webinar  on Coaching Emotions-Skills to build Tolerance on October 10th to mark World Mental Health Day 2021.

The purpose of the webinar was to equip students with emotional regulation and distress tolerance skills for enhancing resilience. Distress tolerance is a person’s ability to manage actual or perceived emotional distress. It also involves being able to make it through an emotion. The goal of distress tolerance is to become more aware of how your emotions influence how you respond to distressing situations.

The session was conducted by Ms. Tanushree Sangma who is an Expressive Arts Based Therapist & Psychologist at Department of Mental Health & Behavioral Sciences, Fortis Healthcare, Delhi.  Ms. Tanushree is also a UNESCO-CID certified practitioner.

Through the webinar students learnt how to identify distress tolerance, building emotional awareness and skills to build emotional regulation. These skills have been shown to effectively help adolescents better tolerate and down-regulate strong emotions such as fear and anxiety, panic attacks, crying spells, grief, guilt, or shame.

The webinar concluded with an interactive Q&A session where Ms. Sangma addressed the concerns of students.
